Simon vs Justin
In the Food Network’s Tournament of Champions (hosted by Guy Fieri) the chefs go head-to-head in a single elimination bracket-style competition, where a randomizer machine determines the protein, produce, equipment, cooking style, and time for each of the cook-offs.
A new wrinkle for Season 4 is that all the first round matches are 30 minutes, but the 5th wheel gives either the low seed, the high seed, or Guy the chance to re-spin any of the other wheels.
Play by Play Commentators
As the competition calls for a blind taste test, the chefs aren’t permitted to describe their own dishes.
Simon Majumdar presides over one kitchen, and Justin Warner the other, to make notes about the way the chefs are preparing their meals, including the techniques used, ingredients, spices, etc. They then present the plates to the judges while the chefs wait in their green rooms and watch the judging via a TV feed.
Grudge Match
There’s no formal record of the results for Simon or Justin, but my original Fandom page was cited as the reason for Simon and Justin cooking off against each other in Superchef Grudge Match (S01 E03).
Seeding Matters
Although Simon is running away with the number of victories, it is noticeable that he tends to comment on the higher seeds, especially in round 1. (46 of 71 up to S4E1)
By applying a weight to the seeding, and the margin of victory, Justin fairs a lot better and would actually have won the first 2 seasons.
The formula used is: Margin of Victory x Difference in Seeding.
Examples:
If a number 1 seed beats an 8 seed 92-89: (92-89=3) (1/8=0.125) (3×0.125=0.375)
If a number 6 seed beats a 3 seed 91-81 (91-81=10) (6/3=2) (10×2=20)

Of course Simon features predominantly in my homage to Guy’s Grocery Games, and Justin makes a cameo appearance (16:35).
